Description
Children come with a full spectrum of interests, learning modality preferences, and learning capabilities. As educators, we want to provide each child the opportunity to develop his or her potential including those for whom the ability to learn is a special strength. They have the promise to become experts in areas requiring strong academic preparation. They have the potential to contribute to areas in need of advanced critical thinking, problem solving, and creative approaches. They can become the scientists, engineers, doctors, judges, authors, social scientists, historians, philosophers, educators, entrepreneurs, religious leaders, civic leaders, etc. that can help us find new paths and solve the complex problems we know are in the future. We need to find these future experts in all populations and economic groups and foster their development. They will need more than the traditional grade-level curriculum to develop the broad and deep foundation necessary for advanced achievement.
